Drawing and painting portraits and faces – various media.

Most people who dabble in drawing and painting want to draw a likeness. It’s on the bucket list of art goals many set themselves. It’s perfectly achievable with some coaching on how to measure and stucture the head. The same is also true of painting faces, you just need to be shown some tried and tested methodolgy and you will be painting recognisable faces in no time.

On this course you will be shown how to accurately copy a face from a photograph. Then you will be taken through some of the structural modelling of the face – How to construct a nose, eyes, ears etc.

Then with a more rounded idea of the heads construction you will be ready to begin painting, carving your way through the forms as seen below in this portait using alkyd.

Looking in turn at the three common paint mediums – watercolours, oils and acrylics Jason will show you how best to handle the subject making the most of each of the three mediums characteristics.

You can choose to simply concentrate on your prefered paint medium or explore each of the mediums demonstrated.
