This six week drawing course for beginners is the ideal way to ignite a love of drawing. It’s a myth than being able to draw is a gift. It’s a learnt skill. Yes, some people have more interest in art than others and appear to have a natural aptitude, but anyone with the capability to draw can become better at it with training. Jason has seen students who show little skill on arrival at a class become quite proficient at drawing in a matter of weeks creating convincing portrait studies from photographs. So don’t be shy, come and join the group and see if you can surprise yourself and your family and friends with what you are able to draw by the end of the course.

Drawing has long been thought the foundation of traditional arts practice. Gaining a working knowledge of some of the foundational skills, covered on this course, could help take your art to the next level.

What will you do on the course ?

• Expand and tune your mark making skills with a pencil
• Undertake a series of drawing exercises that help ylearn how to measure an image accuratly using relative proportion.
• Explore hatching and cross hatching line work
• Draw with soft graphite, blenders and erasures to mimic a ‘photo’ look.
• Begin to explore construction drawing – combining shapes to create the look of forms.
