Interpreting Autumn

Autumn is associated with winds, falling leaves, delightful rich warm colours and of course conkers. The season can be very beautiful, so it’s understandable that artists love to try to capture some aspect of this time of year in their art. This course offers insights into the techniques past artists have used to render Autumn. Above are two of Jason’s own artworks that have explored the theme of Autumn. One attempting to indicate the wind whipping up the leaves, while the second concentrates on the leaves falling gently to the woodland floor. On this course you can use any medium, including mixed media and collage, creating landscapes, still lives or abstracts, the choice is up to you.

In this very relaxed learning enviroment you will be encouraged to day dream and let your imagination run wild.

Why does Jason think this course would be of value to you as a painter ?

Finding a subject you are passionate about as a painter is critical. It drives you on to make more art and helps put more of your personality and thoughts into the art making process. That theme might not just spring out of the air, it might take some thought and practice, playing with a number of themes to help you find your artistic happy place. Big themes like Autumn are a great place to start. There are lots of previous art examples made by ‘creatives’ from various artistic disciplines, so not just pictures to look at. This boiling pot of ideas gives you lots of ideas to help you find your own voice.

Autumn is also a subject that many traditional artist enjoy painting. If you are looking for tips to improve your rendering skills, Jason has lots of painting experience to share and is always on hand to help you tune your artwork.
